I was born on Feb 8th 1963 in Roanoke Virginia. My folks are Don Wesley Reno and Betty Reno.
Our family moved to Nashville in 1965 then later moved to Maryland in 1967 where Dad (Don) partnered up with Bill Harrell. This is when I get interested in music and started learning how to play the guitar. I next learned to play the Bass. I was about 12 years old when I got my first banjo and the "banjo bug".
We moved to Lynchburg in 1976 while Dad and Bill were touring in Japan. I joined Dads band in 1977 full time playing Bass and banjo and played with him until his passing in 1984. Dale and I carried on for a year as the Reno Brothers with Ernie Sykes and Robert Hale.and our fiddle player Bonney Beverly.
In 1985 we decided to move back to Nashville.
We wanted to join our forces with our older brother Ronnie. We toured for 15 years together playing country and bluegrass music until the year 2000. We started playing and recording some shows wth Mitch Harrell. That was just about the time Hayseed Dixie was starting and we began touring. We put the Reno & Harrell project on hold while touring in Europe. For the next 10 years we played over 1000 shows in 29 different countries and sold over 500,000 records world wide. We are proud to be partnering with Mitch and excited to finally see our dream of Reno and Harrell come to life.
